Quarter 3 ◆ Jul – Sept 2024

From the President’s Desk

As the MLB post-season is in full swing and the NFL season is rushing along, there is another competition on the near horizon. A contest in which every one of us can participate. This contest takes place Tuesday, Nov 5. While this message is in no way an attempt to nudge you in one direction or the other – I would offer a stern push in the direction of your local polling place. This is important. And you have an impact on the final score.

Get in this game – please cast your vote.

Baseball ‘Partner’ Night

Shoretown Ballpark was the venue and it was a home game for the Jersey Shore Blue Claws. Vantage team was there live with our amazing partners to watch the Blue Claws win with a final score of 6-0 against the Hudson Valley Renegades.

It was as good a night as it could be!

Golf Day out with AABE

The last day of the quarter was an energizing first in-person event for us with The American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) in Philadelphia. Vantage team won the golf event, had a scrumptious dinner and had a good business networking experience as well. All in a day to wrap up Quarter 3 with work and fun!

Partner Shout-Out

October is observed as Depression Awareness Month every year.

The aim is to enhance understanding, reduce stereotypes, and educate people about the impact of depression and other mental health issues. Depression is a prevalent mental health issue across the globe. It’s much more than just “feeling sad”—it negatively affects a person’s emotions, thoughts, and actions, disrupting the overall quality of life. We are proud to feature our client, Hunterdon Helpline, who is dedicated to this cause:

The Community Resource Specialist answering the call first assesses the situation to make sure that the caller is not exhibiting signs of suicide ideation. If so, action is taken to provide the caller with immediate assistance as well as long-term referrals.
Depression hits all ages. The “helpline” accommodates anyone who calls and providing a non-judgmental ear often makes all the difference. Resources and referrals are always offered and Hunterdon Helpline has its own Licensed Clinical Social Worker on staff to provide free counseling. Many of Hunterdon Helpline’s services address depression and isolation: Telephone Reassurance and Friendly Visitors check in with a person either daily or weekly, respectively. Having someone call to check in every day makes a difference in social isolation, as does having a weekly visitor sharing an hour or two socializing. Both programs can have a positive impact on depression.
To benefit from these services, or volunteer to make a difference in someone’s life, just call 908-782-4357 for help, information and to register.
